• Department is a first step which is to create in an inventory
• It is basically created for maintaining the Categories, Subcategories, article etc.
• Example: Suppose the department name as Men, Women etc. Now under this Men and Women all the categories and subcategories will be created.

Department* :
Department name is for identify any item from which it belongs.
Description:
Short Description or name of the Department, this will be printed on the Cashmemo.
Extended Description:
Detailed Description of the Department, sometimes useful at Retail and stock.
Short Name:
Very Short Description or "Alias" of the Department, helpful in searching the Department from the search-list while feeding purchases or purchase orders
Active Status :
When checked, Department name is treated as Active and available in all search-lists in category. The Inactive Department are not available in the search-lists, however you can get reports for all Department regardless of its Active Status.
